In the Humanities we study the art and science of what it means to be human, what lies at the root of the many social and interpersonal struggles with which we are all acquainted, and how the human spirit manages to overcome and flourish in entirely unexpected ways. In the thick of the contextual challenges we face in Africa, there is an urgent call for a new generation of graduates who will think in fresh and innovative ways about the idea of the common good as both an economically sustainable and socially viable objective.
Boston’s response to the call for responsive and engaged graduates passionate about pursuing the common good comes to life in the Bachelor of Social Sciences. This programme will resonate with you if you are passionate about people, social transformation, leadership under the pressures of managing diversity, and, seeing how people can realise their potential in a range of social contexts and flourish. Also offered in the Humanities is the Higher Certificate in HIV/AIDS Counselling and Management, a very popular programme which attracts students interested in community engagement and workplace initiatives and interventions, including lay counselling and holistic management of HIV/AIDS.
