Entry Requirements

Minimum qualification: a Bachelor Honours (NQF Level 8) or Postgraduate Diploma (NQF Level 8).
In addition to meeting the minimum qualification entry requirements, applicants must fulfil the
following:

  • Provide evidence of experience, at least three (3) years in a supervisory, managerial, technical,
    or professional role demonstrating a practical business base on which to build your MBA
    learning; and
  • Submit a Curriculum Vitae (CV), including a minimum of two (2) contactable references and a
    brief motivation letter; and
  • Participate in an interview, if requested.

This programme is offered by Boston City Campus in the distance mode of education with support provided at Learner Support Centres. Apply to register at any Boston City Campus Learner Support Centre nationwide.

All modules are compulsory and must be passed.

This master's programme is a candidate for accreditation with the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP), USA.

Thirteen compulsory modules must be passed.

Various How You’ll Be Assessed (AS4, AS6 to ASRMD) are used throughout the modules in the programme. For example, AS4 is predominately applied in this programme and consists of Formative Assessments (FA1 and FA2), also known as assignments, research essays or tests, which count forty percent (40%) – twenty percent (20%) each – towards the overall mark. Summative Assessments in the form of capstone projects, tasks, presentations, written or oral exams or a research proposal (SA1), count fifty percent (50%), and a research or reflective essay (SA2) count ten percent (10%) towards the overall mark.

No supplementary assessment is provided for FA1 or FA2. A maximum of one (1) additional supplementary assessment opportunity is provided for SA1 and SA2 respectively, which will be charged for. An overall mark of fifty percent (50%) is required to pass a module. Please consult the Fact Sheet and the Postgraduate Student Rulebook for additional, detailed programme information.

On completion of the programme, graduates will have the necessary knowledge and
practical skills required to:

  • Synthesise, interrogate, and apply knowledge and concepts from a range of business disciplines to evaluate complex business problems, and develop – within environmental, sustainable and governance (ESG) benchmarkable frameworks – solutions in complex local, regional or global market environments.
  • Critically analyse and interpret information and organisational data to inform business and management decisions, mitigate risk and forecast future trends.
  • Apply critical thinking, strategic foresight, responsible leadership and management skills that will lead to the effective execution of sustainable management practices and business decisions.
  • Apply research skills to develop research-based solutions to business problems.
